It says the pin bores are offset .060". installing them backwards would change the rod position by .12", or just under 1 8". i have no experience building a 400 hp 302, but i have a hard time believing this small change would make enough difference in the rod angle to make 15hp. Also, per an article in engine professional mike mavrigian. the pin offset is biased toward the major thrust side of the piston. in a clockwise rotating engine, the major thrust side is at the intake side on the left (driver) bank and the exhaust side on the right (passenger) bank. in a reverse rotation engine, the thrust sides are opposite.
