Ford C6 Transmission Cooler Lines First pull off the coil wire so the truck won't start. unhook a transmission line and have someone turn over the engine. the transmission will start to pump out fluid. now you can tell the direction of flow. the line from the front of the trans is to the cooler. the line at the rear of the trans is return from the cooler. Pull the lines off the radiator. let it drain as best as you can and then use pipe plugs to cork the radiator transmission holes. just get a big enough trans cooler for your application. if you do it the way you are talking about then you are either heating the coolant with the transmission fluid or vise versa.
