The d16z6 engine is part of honda’s d series family and it first saw the light of day in 1992. it remained in production until 1995 and was found in the honda civic and the del sol. owing to vtec being on the intake side, this engine produced 125 hp; some d series fans consider the d16z6 to be a performance version of the d series engine. You need 3 things to hit vtec. 1) correct oil pressure if you don't have enough oil, it won't engage. 2) warmed up engine. 3) you need to be loading the engine, won't work in neutral. if your vtec isn't working, the car will feel gutless at high rpm, it will feel like it stops pulling as hard after 5000 rpm. Stock injectors are perfect for this build, provided they are not dirty. most of the smaller displacement 1.6 .8 honda injectors are 240cc. the lone exception is d16y7 injectors are 190cc, so do not use these. your best bet is to send the 240’s you choose to rc engineering to get them balanced and flowed.
